The area of the Koper Police Directorate lies in the South-western part of Slovenia, including part of the Karst and the Slovenian Littoral. The region includes state borders with Croatia. The Administration includes 194 km of state border, including 50 km of sea border. It comprises 1,045 square kilometres, with around 106,000 permanent residents. During the tourist season, the number of inhabitants increases considerably.

The Koper Police Directorate comprises four police stations (Piran, Izola, Koper in Sezana), and six police stations with so called specialised areas of work (border, traffic and marine).
