PRESENTATION
The Postojna Police Directorate with 1,456 square
kilometres, bordering on Croatia in the south in the length of 68.6
km, is one of the smaller Police Directorates. With 475 employees,
it takes care of the safety of its 50,153 inhabitants.
The work of the Police Directorate is organised in
internal organisational units (uniformed police section, criminal police
section, operation and communication centre, operational support section
and directors service) and police stations in Postojna, Cerknica and
Ilirska Bistrica; border police stations Jelsane and Starod;
and border crossing points Jelsane, Babno Polje, Novokracine, Ilirska

Three police offices
are also functioning within the Police Directorate.
Police Station Ilirska Bistrica controls 53,8 km and PS
Cerknica 14,8 km of state border between Slovenia and Croatia. For its
surveillance we use all available equipment such as, for example, hand
thermo-vision cameras, night vision binoculars, binoculars, different types
of vehicles and motorbikes. The territory, mostly covered with woods, presents
a great opportunity for illegal crossing the state border and going to
the other European countries.
We have a very good cooperation at the regional and local level with the
Republic of Croatia.
We perform intensive cooperation with the officers in charge in Croatia
Police Directorates, especially with planning and executing joint inspections
of the work performed by our mixed patrols, exchanging, on a three month
basis, of written statistical and operative information in the field of
state border protection, cooperating in drafting protocols and attending
working meetings in the field of state border protection, border control
and implementation of the agreement on the readmission of persons, monthly
(in individual fields) and semi-annually (in a wider context). |
