Safety on the ski slopes
You are not alone on the ski slope!
Adapt your speed and manner of skiing to your skills
and to weather conditions. Use only the side of the ski run for walking. |
 |
When you ski, do it with caution,
responsibility and in accordance with the rules.
Do not overestimate your skills and abilities.
Check your skiing equipment in time.
Skiing under the influence of alcohol or drugs
is extremely irresponsible and poses a threat to your
own life and the lives of other skiers. |
Offer your help, should an accident occur
Every season, about 1,000 skiers are injured on
Slovenian ski slopes. Some accidents even have fatal consequences. The
days that you dedicate to relaxation, amusement and sport should in fact
be spent pleasantly, and you should also take care of greater safety,
keeping in mind that everybody is responsible for order and agreeable
coexistence on the ski slope.
As everywhere else, there are written and unwritten rules
of conduct that should be observed on ski slopes. When ski slopes are
crowded, skiers should demonstrate a great deal of self-discipline and
respect of the rights of all the ski slope users. They should be cautious,
considerate, patient and responsible, making sure to observe the instructions
and warnings of guards, police officers and others who are responsible
for safety at ski slopes.
When there is an accident on a ski slope, everybody involved
have to give their personal details to the guard. Non-casualties and witnesses
should stay at the scene until the arrival of a police officer or until the
inspection is finished unless the police officer or another official conducting
the inspection decides otherwise. Non-casualties and witnesses have to give
their personal details to the police officer and guard.
Make the ski slope a safer
place by immediately informing a guard, the rescue service or the
management if there is an accident on the slope. |
 |
Are you familiar with the signs on ski slopes?
Ski slopes are equipped with notice signs
and warning signs, which should be placed on most visible spots.
Disregarding signs is often a reason for the most serious
accidents. |
Notice signs
Notice signs mainly give information about the direction and
the level of difficulty of a ski run:
