Photo of Donald RusDonald Rus, M. A., born in 1980 in Ptuj, completed the Secondary Police School in 1999 and graduated from the Faculty of Public Administration in 2004. In 2011, he obtained a master’s degree in government and European studies at the Faculty of Government and European Studies.

He began his career in 1999 as a police officer and later became a patrol head at Maribor II Police Station (Rače Police Department). Between 2005 and 2006, he worked as a criminal investigator for Maribor II Police Station. In 2006, he took up the position of Commander of Maribor II Police Station and continued his career as Assistant Commander of Maribor I Police Station in 2007. A year later he served at Maribor Police Station for Service Dog Handlers and Mounted Police and was appointed Commander of that unit in 2009. He went on to work at the Uniformed Police Division of Maribor Police Directorate, first as a police inspector and later as a minor offence coordinator.

He was Director of the Maribor Police Directorate from June 2021 to June 2023, when he was transferred to the senior management and tasked with coordinating and facilitating cooperation between the police and external institutions with the aim of strengthening civil dialogue and implementing public policies. On 1 January 2026, he was temporarily posted to the Uniformed Police Directorate at the General Police Directorate, where he served as Assistant Director in charge of operations.

On 22 June 2026, he was appointed Deputy Director General of the Police.
