On Saturday, 1 March 2008, the new Decree Defining the Area of the International and Interstate Traffic Border Crossing of Republic of Slovenia at the External Border of EU, published in the Official Gazette of the Republic of Slovenia, No. 16/2008, enters into force.

The Decree abolishes goods transport at Sečovlje, Sočerga, Vinica, Rigonce and Gibina border crossings. At the interstate traffic border crossings laid down in Article 3 of the foregoing Decree (Podplanina, Slovenska Vas, Rigonce, Orešje, Imeno, Rogatec, Zgornji Leskovec, Ormož, Razkrižje and Gibina), in compliance with the Community law on the freedom of movement, state border crossing is allowed for citizens of the European Union, the European Economic Area and the Swiss Confederation.
