Robert Kerep, head of the training and support division of the Security and Protection Office at the General Police Administration, will start his one-year stint in the mission on 27 August 2007 and will join his Slovenian colleague Boris Kankaraš, who is already deployed. As a police adviser in the post of so-called training programme developer, he will pass his knowledge to his colleagues in Serbia, and actively cooperate with police experts from other countries in developing the Serbian police into a modern and community-oriented police force, which will meet expectations from Serbian and EU citizens.

The Slovenian police have been participating in the OVSE Mission to Serbia in the fields of democratisation and protection of human rights and national minorities, since 2001. By carrying out demanding security tasks in this area, Slovenian police officers have also become ambassadors of the Slovenian police, as they are boosting the reputation of the police and the Republic of Slovenia in abroad.
