In connection with some recent reports in the media about the number of migrants allowed to cross the border daily, it is important to explain that this is not a new agreement.

We merely reminded the Croatian law enforcement authorities of the agreement of police chiefs of Macedonia, Serbia, Croatia, Slovenia and Austria, who had committed themselves, in a joint declaration, to restrict the daily transit through the Western Balkan countries to a number that allows effective checks of every migrant in accordance with the Schengen rules. Taking into account the Austrian quotas and experiences of refusal of entry, we agreed on daily transit restriction. The decision was consensual, i.e. Croatia agreed to it.

Yesterday, the Croatian authorities passed on almost 850 migrants, which considerably exceeds the approximate number we agreed on, therefore we reminded them of the agreement.
