A dangerous suspect who had been on the run since 2016 and was wanted under a European arrest warrant issued by Slovenia was apprehended in Italy. The suspect is a Serbian citizen suspected of robbing a jewellery store in Ljubljana in 2016.
The suspect was tracked down and apprehended as part of international police cooperation within the network of fugitive active search teams of Slovenia and Italy, as well as through the effective exchange of information and the excellent operational work of officers from the criminal investigation divisions at the Nova Gorica and Koper police directorates.
Following his arrest, a search of the suspect's home was conducted and items were seized, after which he was brought before the competent authorities in Italy. The procedures regarding his surrender to Slovenia are still ongoing.
