On 22 June 2026, Acting Director General of Police Danijel Lorbek appointed Borut Franc, the former deputy director of the National Bureau of Investigation, as acting director of the National Bureau of Investigation within the Criminal Police Directorate of the General Police Directorate. The former director of the National Bureau of Investigation, Darko Muženič, was transferred to the Police Academy.

On 22 June 2026, the Acting Director General of the Police authorised Dr Igor Lamberger to head the Service of the Director General of the Police. The former head of the Service, Uroš Lepoša, will continue his work in the Strategic Development, Supervision and Policing Excellence Service of the General Police Directorate.
Donald Rus, who was temporarily posted to the Uniformed Police Directorate as Assistant Director on 1 January 2026, assumes the role of Acting Deputy Director General of the Police effective today.
Through these decisions, the Acting Director General of the Police ensures the smooth operation of the Slovenian police and its organisational units and is assembling a team of colleagues with whom he will carry out the police’s key tasks in ensuring the safety of people and property.
