The Operations and Communications Centre receives notifications and collects information on incidents, events and occurrences that are relevant to police work and to the assessment of the security situation in Slovenia.
Tasks of the Operations and Communications Centre
At the national level, the Operations and Communications Centre monitors, directs, coordinates and evaluates the measures taken by the regional operations and communications centres of all eight police directorates in relation to serious criminal offenses, traffic accidents, natural and other disasters, and other significant or major incidents, events and occurrences. In doing so, it makes suggestions and proposals, issues guidelines and instructions, provides expert assistance, assigns the necessary tasks and orders measures.
The police emergency telephone number 113, which citizens can use in emergency situations when police intervention is required, is linked to the operations and communications centres of the police directorates. One of their main tasks is to steer and assist police units dispatched to a location as a result of a call for service.
The Operations and Communications Centre also provides an anonymous telephone number 080 1200, which is intended for all of those who would like to provide useful information to the Police while remaining anonymous.
Under the authority of the Director General of the Police, the Operations and Communications Centre communicates information that is important for security, and whose immediate publication is in the interest of the Police, to the media and the public. In addition, it is responsible for receiving and sending documents between the organisational units of the General Police Directorate and the police directorates via the police information and telecommunications system, for the internal security of the General Police Directorate building and for the transport of confidential mail.
Organisation
is an internal organisational unit of the Police Specialities Directorate of the General Police Directorate. It has two sections:
