The Railpol international police training on railway safety has started at the Vinko Breznik Training Centre in Gotenica. The international police training will be attended by police officers and police experts from several European countries. Today, 3 September 2024, the Training Centre in Gotenica will host the meeting of the Railpol Working Group Public Order, while tomorrow will also see the start of the first joint exercise of police officers from the police units in charge of public order.

Today's meeting of the Working Group Public Order will be attended by 22 Working Group members from Netherlands, France, Portugal, Latvia, Serbia, Belgium, Poland, Czechia, Slovakia, Germany, Austria, Bulgaria, Hungary, Romania, Spain and Slovenia. The topics of the meeting include spotting at sporting events, pickpocketing on trains, the equipment of the police officers for establishing and ensuring public order and the use of mild coercive means.

Members of the Working Group will also attend the training for special police units, which will be taking place in the upcoming days, in the role of observers and evaluators. The officers will perform the first training on how to respond an explosion on a train tomorrow.

The Director of the Uniformed Police Directorate Mirko Nunič welcomed the members during the opening session of the Working Group meeting and wished them successful deliberations, while Alojz Sladič also from the Uniformed Police Directorate presented the organisational structure of the Slovenian police.
