Vinko Beznik Training Centre in Gotenica directly implements training programmes for the police, is engaged in the preparation of training programmes and protects facilities and surrounding areas.

The Training Centre and its units (Vinko Beznik Training Centre in Gotenica, Service Dogs Training Section, and Top Athletes Section) strive to create, together with other internal organisational units of the General Police Directorate, a diverse, current and quality selection of police training programmes.

Short review of the Service Dog Training Section development
The beginnings of training dogs for the needs of the Slovenian police date back to 1947, when part-time instructors started executing their learning programmes. Although there was not a tradition in this field of work, and work conditions were quite modest, the dogs achieved great results, which resulted in establishing a police dogs training centre.
