During the week of 25 September–2 October 2023, the police and Slovenian Railways took part in an international prevention campaign organised by Railpol, the European association of police organisations responsible for policing the railways in Europe.
The seventh prevention campaign Rail Action Week, which took place in all Railpol member countries under the auspices of Railpol's working group Police Investigations on Railway Accidents and other major Incidents, aimed to improve safety both on board and at level crossings.
Checking for safe behaviour at level crossings and on board
Representatives of the Police and Slovenian Railways checked in particular for the following:
• risky behaviour at railway level crossings,
• safe crossing of a railway line at level crossings (vehicles and pedestrians),
• risky behaviour on board (e.g. getting off or on the train while the train is moving, damaging or destroying inventory, breaches of law and order, etc.).
The prevention campaign also involved lectures to schoolchildren to raise their awareness about railway safety.
