Freediver Alenka Artnik Burghardt, a top athlete employed by the Police, achieved a new milestone yesterday, 10 July 2025, at a competition on Long Island in the Bahamas. In the monofin discipline she reached 123 meters and set a new world record!

Police rescue a woman from the river near Solkan
On the afternoon of 7 July 2025, the Nova Gorica police were informed of an altercation between two German nationals in the car park of a restaurant in Solkan. Upon arrival at the scene, a member of the public alerted the police officers that a woman had jumped into the Soča River (the police later determined that the 27-year-old woman had thrown herself into the water to end a dispute with a 24-year-old man).
