#RoadSafetyPledge: Time to break bad driving habits

From a road safety perspective, the summer months are among the most dangerous of the year. Holidays, longer journeys, heavier traffic, hot weather, driver fatigue and a more relaxed attitude behind the wheel all contribute to an increased risk of road traffic accidents. To help reduce that risk, the Slovenian police are launching the #RoadSafetyPledge campaign at the beginning of July, encouraging all road users to make a personal road safety pledge and keep it throughout the month.

Head of the Air Police Unit Dejan Kink appointed Director of the Novo mesto Police Directorate

Dejan Kink, who was previously head of the Air Police Unit, will take over as head of the Novo mesto Police Directorate on 1 July 2026. He was handed over the affairs on 30 June, in the presence of the Deputy Director-General of Police, Donald Rus, by Bor Jeglič, who had been leading the Police Directorate by authorisation of the Director-General of Police.

Slovenian police officers once again join Croatia's Safe Tourist Destination project

Slovenians enjoying their summer holidays in Croatia may once again encounter Slovenian police officers who are currently deployed in Pula, Novalja and Vodice, and on the island of Krk. As in previous years, Slovenian officers are supporting their Croatian colleagues in helping to keep visitors safe while also assisting tourists from Slovenia. Their presence is particularly important given that Croatia recorded almost 1.7 million visits by Slovenian citizens in 2025.

Short review of the Service Dog Training Section development

The beginnings of training dogs for the needs of the Slovenian police date back to 1947, when part-time instructors started executing their learning programmes. Although there was not a tradition in this field of work, and work conditions were quite modest, the dogs achieved great results, which resulted in establishing a police dogs training centre.
