The Dactyloscopy Section performs examinations of traces of papillary lines, which includes procedures of trace lifting and comparison of traces and papillary line prints. Procedures of identification of persons and bodies are carried out on the basis of fingerprints.

The Section keeps and maintains a record of fingerprinted persons. Supported by AFIS, the Section also manages the central collection of fingerprinted persons (finger/palm prints) and unidentified traces of papillary lines. In accordance with the requirements of the Pr├╝m Treaty the Section also acts as the national contact point for international exchange of dactyloscopic data (traces and prints of papillary lines) between AFIS systems of Parties. The Section also carries out comparisons of traces and shoe prints supported by the SICAR system. The list of examinations can be found in Appendix.
