Major limitations of traffic are not expected during the visit by Queen Elizabeth II and the Duke of Edinburgh between 21 and 23 October 2008, except for the time when the protected persons will be travelling on a specified location or route.
Short-term mobile roadblocks will set up by traffic police officers, who will arrange traffic at all major intersections in line with the given situation, and by police officers from the escort. They will provide as smooth a passage for the protected persons as possible, after which other traffic participants will be normally included in traffic. Hold-ups are expected primarily on the motorway from Ljubljana to Koper, where constriction works are being carried out at several sections.
Roadblocks for security reasons will be set up in the area of the Police Directorate Ljubljana:
- on 21/10/2008 at 6 AM and 23/10/2008 at 10:30 PM:
Mikloši?eva Street will be closed from the intersection with Dalmatinova Street to Nazorjeva street. Deliveries will be allowed until 9:30 AM, and deliveries to Nazorjeva Street will be possible from the direction of Slovenska Street.
- on 22/10/2008 between 5 AM and 3 PM:
parking will not be allowed in Ciril Metodov Square or Krekov Square. Deliveries will be allowed until 9:30 AM.
- on 22/10/2008 between 6 AM and 7 PM:
parking is not allowed at the car park in Kongresni Square. Traffic in the area of Kongresni Square will be blocked between 9:30 AM and 7 PM (it will not be possible to turn to Kongresni Square from Slovenska Street and from Vegova Street).
- on 22/10/2008 between 9 AM and 3 PM:
Cesta slovenskih kme?kih uporov will be closed (from Streliška Street to Ljubljana Castle).
We call on all road users to follow the instructions of police officers, who will take care of road traffic safety, in order to provide for the safety of the visitors and their own safety. We recommend you make your journey earlier than usual and adjust your driving to the road condition. We advise you to drive patiently and cautiously.
If they come across police vehicles escorting the protected motorcade, with red and blue signal lights, drivers must stop their vehicles, and if possible get off the road and enable the protected motorcade to pass. They can continue driving immediately after the last police vehicle, with green and blue signal lights, has passed.
Protection of People and Premises
Possible changes will be published on the website of the police and through the media.
The protection will include all adequate security measures which will provide for the optimum safety of Queen Elizabeth II. An adequate number of police officers, which depends on the security situation and the assessment of the threat to the protected person, will be planned, and all circumstances and elements which could influence her will be taken into account.
