Two police-led initiatives have been shortlisted in this year's 'EU Project, My Project' campaign. Members of the public are invited to cast their votes for their favourite finalist until 8 May.
Across Slovenia, more than 10,000 projects have received support from European funds. Among the many excellent projects, 16 inspiring stories have been selected as finalists in the 'Best EU Project 2026' competition. These projects span a diverse range of areas, including European cohesion policy, Interreg cooperation, home affairs, the common agricultural policy, maritime and fisheries, and aquaculture – all aimed at improving everyday life for citizens.

Among the finalists are two projects from the policing sector:
The project 'Strengthening police capabilities against CBRN terrorist threats' aims to improve the preparedness and effectiveness of first responders in dealing with chemical (C), biological (B), radiological (R) and nuclear (N) threats. By investing in advanced equipment, a specialist response vehicle, and targeted training, the initiative significantly improves the police's ability to respond swiftly and safely in high-risk situations.
The project 'Purchase of vehicles for joint Frontex operations' is designed to strengthen the Slovenian police's capacity to secure the EU's external borders. With European funding, the Police will acquire around 20 new modern off-road vehicles, compliant with Frontex standards. These vehicles will support police officers taking part in joint operations at the external borders, improving mobility, enabling more efficient patrols, and ensuring quicker and safer execution of duties in the field.
