External Borders Fund
Annual programme: 2007
Project involved purchase and implementation of the communication equipment for fast and reliable telecommunication system, enabling increase of communication throughput of accessible systems and provision of a capable integrated communication network. In course of AP2007 programme, one third of border crossings towards the Republic of Croatia were equipped.
Upgrade of national communication systems (broadband network), to make them interoperable with the systems of other Member States comprises:
- set-up and provision of fast and reliable communication links to access the information and telecommunication system of the Police (hereinafter ITSP) and SIS,
- increase of communication throughput of accessible systems and provision of a capable integrated communication network,
- promotion of efficient enquiries at border crossings in real time by applying comprehensive information systems,
- provision of fast and effective exchange of information between all border crossing points in real time.
Key operations were purchase and implementation of communication equipment used for providing the broadband communication network of Slovenian police and its connectivity to international information systems (SIS I, SIS II etc?)
The project is spanned inbetween years 2007 and 2013. Planned goals were:
- increasing of line speeds towards remote locations from 128 kbit/s up to 1024 kbit/s and to 10Mbit/s in 100Mbit/s
- decreasing the latency and line delay (to max. 100 ms),
- implementing the IPSec security mechanisms,
- implementing integrated network, capable of transporting data and voice communications.
Goals are achieved.
Project value is 112.576,96 ?. European Commission co-financed the project up to 75% which amounts to 84.432,72 ?.
