Annual programme: 2009

Project involved purchase and implementation of the communication equipment for fast and reliable telecommunication system, enabling increase of communication throughput of accessible systems and provision of a capable integrated communication network. The project is spanned between years 2007 and 2013. In course of Y2009 programme the systems of central and backup data centres, used for interconnection between national and international information systems (SIS I, SIS II, Interpol, Europol,) were established and upgraded (hardware and software platforms of the central systems, network management system and renewal of software licences).

The project goal was upgrade of national communication systems (broadband network), to make them interoperable with the systems of other Member States has involved:

  • set-up and provision of fast and reliable communication links to access the information and telecommunication system of the Police (hereinafter ITSP) and SIS,
  • increase of communication throughput of accessible systems and provision of a capable integrated communication network,
  • promotion of efficient enquiries at border crossings in real time by applying comprehensive information systems,
  • provision of fast and effective exchange of information between all border crossing points in real time.

Key operations were purchase and implementation of communication equipment used for provisioning the broadband communication network of Slovenian police and its connectivity to international information systems (SIS I, SIS II). Planned goals were:

  • increasing of central system performance for accessing the SIS systems
  • increasing liner speeds from 1024 kbit/s up to 10Mbit/s and 100Mbit/s
  • decreasing the latency and line delay (to max. 100 ms),
  • implementing and upgrading the IPSec security mechanisms.

Goals are achieved.

Project value is 410.344,61 ?. European Commission co-financed the project up to 75% which amounts to 307.758,45 ?.
