The content of the project was the installation of radio communication system TETRA into police helicopter type EC-135, that was purchased for the purpose of border control and surveillance of Schengen border. Republic of Slovenia and thus Slovenian police was, in accordance with Schengen treaty, obliged to ensure regular and effective control of Schengen borders. Slovenia Police Air Support Unit is dedicated to provide high quality aerial support to police ground units when they perform tasks related to border control. This is only possible with the use of proper radio communication systems. As TETRA is primary police communication system in use, the installation of TETRA communication system into police helicopter type EC-135 was necessary. Project included handover of helicopter to installer of the equipment, purchase of required equipment, installation and certification of installed equipment. Quality and quantity takeover back to police operations followed. All works were performed by company HeliOne, Norway.

 

The purpose of the project was to ensure effective and secure communication between unit, operating in the air and ground units, when they perform tasks associated with border control and surveillance. The purpose of the project was achieved and thus enabled more effective performance of the border control tasks.

 

Costs of the project amount to 244.249,32 EUR. EU co-funded the project from External Borders Fund in the amount of 183.186,99 EUR, which is 75%.
