Republic of Slovenia has, in line with Schengen Border code, for the purpose of prevention of illegal border crossings, ensuring security of border police officers and buildiing, the right to install at border crossing points automatic devices for photographing and recording events in front of and behind the border crossing points. Equipment that was operational at the time was not sufficiently effective and according to standards listed in Schengen Aquis. The purpose of the project was to replace outdated recording devices, introduce new technology in video surveillance and upgrade or replace other video recording equipment.
Equipment (management system for high resolution cameras, high resolution cameras, monitors, upgrade of management system for high resolution cameras , digital recording devices, licence for access and management of recording device and GSC / licene for access to one server ? recording devices, multifunctional keybord for management) was installed on border crossings points: Gruškovje, Obrežje, Dragonja, Jelšane, Starod, Bistrica ob Sotli, Dobovec, Zavrč, Središče ob Dravi, Sečovlje, Podplanina, Gibina, Metlika, Novokračine, Piran, Sečovlje ? airport, Podčetrtek, Sedlarjevo, Nova vas, Petišovci and Maribor airport.
Aim of the project was to increase reliability of funciton of video surveillance equipment from 90% to 100%, increase capacity of digital recording devices and centralize mangement and control. It was planned to upgrade or replace video surveillance system on all border crossing points, starting with the biggest ones. Goals were achieved.
Costs of the project amount to 143.847,94 EUR. EU co-funded the project from External Borders Fund in the amount of 107.885,95 EUR, which is 75%.
