At border areas of Republic of Slovenia has been establish TETRA radio infrastructure which support encrypted communication for police mobile users, set up conditions for international cooperation between public safety users of neighboring countries and provide dispatcher graphical interfaces. It also covers radio terminals for operational police units in border areas.
Achievements of the project: the purchase of 66 pieces of TETRA vehicle radios (used in Police Directorates Celje, Koper, Novo mesto and Maribor) with Gateway functionality and with accessories and software for programming. Four servers for dispatcher infrastructure with 14 dispatcher working places (installed in Police directorates Ljubljana, Novo mesto and Koper) with complete accessories has also been purchased. Two coverage upgrades of dispatcher system with a base station (Krtinjek - Novo mesto and Movraž - Koper) have been completed.
Equipment provides encrypted communication, which is very important for public safety users. It also support a variety of features supported by standard TETRA - eg. GPS feature (automatic location using satellites).
Project value is 435.055,69 EUR. European Commission co-financed the project up to 75% which amounts to 326.291,77 EUR.
