At a short commemorative ceremony for All Saints' Day, workers of the police and the Ministry of the Interior honoured on 30 October 2009 all the police officers who lost their lives in the war for independence in 1991.

The Minister for the Interior Katarina Kresal, State Secretary M.A. Goran Klemenčič, Director General of the Police Janko Goršek, Director of the Uniformed Police Directorate Danijel Žibret, Assistant Director of the Criminal Police Directorate Robert Črepinko and vice-president of the Association Sever Tomaž Čas laid a laurel wreath for All Saints' Day at the memorial plaque in the hall of the Ministry of the Interior.

Six police officers died in the war for independence; namely Marijan Dobelšek, Željko Ernoić, Robert Hvalc, Stanislav Strašek, Franc Šoster and Bojan Štumberger.

 

Afterwards, together with the delegations of war veteran organisations, the Ministry of the Interior and the Municipality of Ljubljana wreaths were also laid at the Monument of the Fallen in the War for Slovenia in Nove Žale in Ljubljana.
