This session of the General Assembly will appoint the next Secretary General for the Organization, as Jürgen Stock completes his second and final mandate after 10 years. The candidate to replace him is Valdecy Urquiza of Brazil, selected by the Executive Committee after a recruitment process earlier this year.
The Assembly will also vote for nine members of the Executive Committee, the organisation’s main executive body with members elected by region.
During the Assembly, the Slovenian delegation will hold bilateral meetings with delegations from several member states, including China and Turkey, as well as representatives of the Interpol General Secretariat.
As the highest governing body of INTERPOL, the General Assembly meets once a year, with each member state having one electoral vote. The General Assembly is composed of delegates appointed by their respective ministries and takes all decisions concerning the policies, working methods, finances, methods of cooperation, plans of activities and the future of the organisation.
