Slovenians vacationing in Croatia these days may encounter Slovenian police officers who are currently deployed on the islands of Krk and Pag, and in the cities of Pula and Šibenik. Namely, this year too, Slovenian police officers are participating in the Safe Tourist Destination project, thus supporting their Croatian colleagues in securing safety and at the same time assisting tourists from their home country.
Marjan Premzl, Andreja Vuk, Drago Butara and Goran Mihelčič (in the photo, from the left) actively cooperate with Croatian safety authorities on the territories of Novalja (island of Pag), Pula, Krk and Šibenik police stations.
From 1 July through 14 August 2025, Slovenian police officers will be present on the territories of the Istria (Andreja Vuk), Primorje-Gorski Kotar (Drago Butara), Lika-Senj (Marjan Premzl) and Šibenik-Knin (Goran Mihelčič) police departments. Their field presence significantly contributes to better communication, quicker solving of potential problems and increased sense of security among tourists.
The launch of this year's international project Safe Tourist Destination in Šibenik, Croatia at the end of last week was accompanied by an official ceremony, which was attended by senior representatives of Croatian Ministry of the Interior and leaders of the police as well as representatives of foreign police forces, including Slovenian police officers. At the opening ceremony, the guests were addressed by Croatian Minister of the Interior Davor Božinović. He welcomed all police officers from abroad who are deployed across various locations in Croatia, and emphasised the significance of their role in ensuring security and assistance to tourists from their home countries. He pointed out that the project is celebrating a round anniversary this year and that this season 108 police officers are participating from numerous Member States of the European Union, but also from more distant countries, such as China and South Korea.
The project is a good example of international police cooperation and partnership based on the common interest of ensuring a safe and pleasant environment for tourists.
