Today, the Deputy Director General of the Police Robert Ferenc received Simon Kelenc, who will represent the interests of the Slovenian Police in Austria.
His main mission will be to promote and facilitate international police cooperation, to monitor the security situation in the country where he will be deployed, and to obtain and provide information relevant to the work of both the police and the Ministry of the Interior.
Ferenc wished the new Police Attaché Simon Kelenc successful and safe work in the neighbouring country.
Simon Kelenc has been with the Police since 1991. During his service with Frontex (2010-2014) he gained valuable experience in working abroad. For the past ten years, he was been responsible for border management and the analysis of irregular migration flows at the Border Police Division of the Uniformed Police Directorate, where he worked closely with international partners and European institutions.
Police attachés are deployed in the host countries to facilitate information exchange, improve the quality of work of the internal organisational units of the Police and the Ministry of the Interior, and to acquire important information and data. Deployment of police attachés and officers improves international police cooperation, especially in the field of migration and the fight against cross-border organised crime.
