The Third Age Festival, which was organised on the occasion of International Day of Older Persons for the 8th year in a row in the Cankarjev dom congress centre in Ljubljana, also featured the police between 30 September and 2 October 2008.
The police establish that retired persons and other senior citizens are frequent victims of different criminal offences, and this is why they presented this year various preventive measures.
At the festival, police officers gave advice to visitors of all generations and ages about what they can do for their safety: how to act to protect their property, and avoid dangerous situations, for example in public places, when using public transportation, when visited in their home by strangers, etc.
More about the preventive measures is available in the brochure Ne pozabite na varnost!, in which we point to the most frequent dangers and circumstances in everyday life in which you can easily become a victim of criminal offences. Perpetrators tend to choose places and victims who represent the least possible risk. This year we printed 10,000 brochures.
We advise you to take into consideration all advice from the brochure and provide for the better personal safety and security of your belongings.
