The new government ordinance adopted today amended the measures to contain the spread of COVID-19 which - despite the fact that the epidemic was officially declared over - are still implemented on entry to Slovenia at the external border and at checkpoints at internal borders of the Republic of Slovenia.

Additional checkpoints on road connections with Austria

Travellers can continue to cross the border at border crossing points with Croatia and several checkpoints on road connections with Austria, Italy and Hungary. The new ordinance added some new checkpoints at the border with Austria (Kramarovci, Gerlinci in Cankova and the reopened checkpoint Jurij).

Slovenian and Austrian owners of land on both sides of the border or tenant farmers involved in agricultural, farming and forestry activities can now cross the border also at points that are not checkpoints but were coordinated with Austria's security authorities. These points are: Golica - Kahlkogel, Peč - Ofen, Koprivna - Luscha, Knepsovo sedlo - Knieps Sattel and Blekowa Alm. Border can be crossed at these points each day from 5.00 to 21.00; the persons crossing the border, however, do not have the right to leave their land for purposes of movement within the country.

The list of all the points is published on the website: Crossing the state border during the coronavirus epidemic.

Setting up of checkpoints on flight and maritime connections

Checkpoints on international flight connections (Ljubljana Jože Pučnik Airport, Maribor Edvard Rusjan Airport and Portorož Airport) and checkpoints on international maritime connections (Koper and Piran border crossing points for international maritime traffic) are being reopened.

The seven-day quarantine upon entering the country is no longer required

The seven-day quarantine for travellers upon entering Slovenia has now been lifted. More information can be found on the government's website in press release Slovenia declares the end of COVID-19 epidemic; no quarantine for EU citizens from today .

With the entry into force of this ordinance, the Ordinance on imposing and implementing measures related to the prevention of the spread of COVID-19 at border crossing points at the external border and checkpoints at internal borders of the Republic of Slovenia ceased to be in force.
