On 29 February 2024, police officers from Celje Traffic Police Station stopped a Hungarian driver of a tractor-trailer improperly loaded with smaller goods vehicles on the motorway and detected a number of other irregularities and minor offences.
The checks revealed several infringements of traffic regulations. The vehicle was not roadworthy, the load was improperly fastened and improperly secured, and the height of the vehicle including the load exceeded the maximum permitted height of 4.20 m by 0.25 m.
When checking the recording equipment (digital tachograph) and the driver card, officers also found several infringements, namely exceeding the driver's daily driving period, insufficient daily rest period, exceeding the extended daily driving period and several infringements of improper use of the tachograph. The officers removed the vehicle from the road and banned the driver from driving until the deficiencies had been corrected. The driver was fined EUR 1,250 and the company EUR 3,900 for the minor offences.
Road users, especially drivers of goods vehicles, are once again reminded that loads must be properly stowed and secured. The requirements to properly secure loads are in place for the protection of the people loading, unloading and driving the vehicle, as well as for the safety of other road users, and the load and the vehicle itself. Before loading, it is also important to check that the loading platform, bodywork and load securing equipment are in good and serviceable condition.
