This year's ski jumping weekend in Planica was tinged with both nostalgia and celebration, as Slovenian ski jumper Peter Prevc, employed at the Top Athletes Section of the Police, announced his final competitive appearance. However, before calling time on a stellar 15 year career, Prevc soared to victory on the opening day of the FIS Ski Jumping World Cup Finals on 22 March 2024.
Peter Prevc scored 452.1 points in the individual category, winning his last gold medal. The runner-up after the first round, Prevc convincingly overtook the previously leading Austrian contender Daniel Huber by 3.6 points in the final showdown. Norwegian jumper Johann Andre Forfang finished third with 441.3 points.

After the competition, 31-year-old Peter Prevc was honoured with a ceremony commemorating his remarkable sporting achievements. Following a lively musical programme, Prevc was escorted from the venue to the sound of drums and fanfare, with a grand flypast by three police helicopters.
