The Slovenian Police participated in the 10th International Defence, Security, Protection and Rescue Fair (SOBRA), held at the end of September in Gornja Radgona. Despite adverse weather conditions, the event offered a vibrant programme, and the police exhibition area drew exceptionally high attendance thanks to an engaging and comprehensive presentation.

The showcase featured police vehicles and gear from a wide range of units, including the Traffic Police, Border Police, Riot and Emergency Squad, Specialised Unit, the Security and Protection Centre, and others. Mounted police officers were also present, alongside criminal investigators, service dog handlers, the Air Support Unit, the Mountain Police Unit, the Police Orchestra and several other specialised services.

The concluding ceremony was attended by Acting Director General of the Police, Damjan Petrič, and Minister of the Interior, Boštjan Poklukar.

Throughout the fair, visitors had the opportunity to view state-of-the-art weaponry and protective gear used by members of the Riot and Emergency Squad and the Special Police Unit, as well as other equipment essential to police work. Many older visitors expressed particular enthusiasm for the exhibition on the history of the police, which evoked a strong sense of nostalgia.

Top athletes employed by the police also visited the fair (from left): Zdenka Stern from the Top Athletes Centre, Matija Volontar (mountain climber), Nina Kostanjšek (rower), Sašo Boškan (swimmer) and Anže Skok (cyclist).

On the outdoor demonstration grounds, the police staged a series of dynamic presentations over the course of the three-day event. These included rescue demonstrations by the Air Support Unit and the Mountain Police Unit, simulated vehicle stops and arrests of dangerous offenders, and presentations showing how police service dogs support operational tasks. Interest in these demonstrations was substantial, with spectators filling the stands—despite the wet conditions.

We are especially pleased that many young visitors expressed genuine enthusiasm for the police profession and a desire to join police ranks one day.
