Yesterday’s job fair on the Slovenian coast brought together visitors from three countries—Slovenia, Italy, and Croatia. On 12 March 2026, at the Arena Bonifika sports hall in Koper, the Slovenian Police joined more than 120 employers from the Primorska region and beyond to present the police profession and showcase the work of the organisation. The event highlighted the importance of direct engagement with young people considering their future career paths.

Presentation of police work and vehicles in Koper

This year’s participation proved particularly dynamic for the police. In addition to an indoor exhibition stand, activities also took place outdoors in the parking area in front of Koper Primary School, where space was shared with representatives of the Financial Administration and the Fire Brigade.

At the outdoor venue, visitors were introduced to various aspects of police work. Presentations featured traffic police officers with a BMW patrol vehicle and a service motorcycle, a police dog handler, a member of the riot police squad in full protective gear, and mounted police officers. The latter attracted special attention, conducting patrols throughout Koper’s city centre during the day. Their presence delighted both residents and numerous tourists, many of whom stopped to take photos and engage in conversation with the officers.

Police helicopter in the air

The programme was further enhanced by a police helicopter flyover above the event site. The crew greeted visitors from above, drawing the attention of virtually everyone present.

Police in the indoor exhibition area

The indoor exhibition area was equally lively. Visitors had the opportunity to observe the work of a forensic technician and meet a representative of the Special Unit, who demonstrated a bomb disposal robot and part of the specialised equipment used in high-risk operations. Once again, the police service dog proved to be a major attraction, helping to create a relaxed and welcoming atmosphere alongside a customs colleague, particularly for younger visitors.

The police stand also welcomed a number of distinguished guests. The event received good media coverage, and a special presentation of the police profession was delivered.
Overall attendance at the fair was excellent, and interest in the police presentation was strong. Looking ahead, the Slovenian Police remains committed to attracting motivated and dedicated young individuals to join its ranks.
