Ten police officers who returned from three international peacekeeping missions were received on 3 December 2007 at 11 AM in the great conference room of the Ministry of the Interior at 2 Štefanova Street in Ljubljana by Deputy Police Director General Matjaž Šinkovec, together with the director of the Criminal Police Administration, Aleksander Jevšek, assistant director of the Uniformed Police Administration, Rafael Viltužnik, and a senior police inspector in the security planning and peacekeeping missions division at the Uniformed Police Administration, Dušan Klobasa.

Mitja Dobrin, Robert Gričnik, Boštjan Grm, Robert Mravljak, Alojz Mulec, Klemen Sirk and Edi Skela returned to Slovenia from their one-year stint in the UNMIK mission in Kosovo; Ernest Salkič and Boris Kankaraš returned from their one-year stint in the OVSE mission to Serbia; and Allen Lorbek returned from the IPTC mission in Jordan. The police officers in the peacekeeping missions carried out various police and security tasks at different posts.

Deputy Police Director General Matjaž Šinkovec and other police officials thanked them for their participation, which he said was professional and effective, and that they had met expectations and proven they had been highly trained. By carrying out demanding security tasks in this area, Slovenian police officers have boosted the reputation of the Slovenian police and Slovenia, even on a global scale. A lot of praise can be heard from other countries, which is another proof of the exceptional contribution of the Slovenian police, also at the time when they are celebrating the 10th anniversary of their participation in peacekeeping missions: 10th anniversary of the participation of the police in international peacekeeping missions

At the reception, police officer Boris Kankaraš offered special thanks on the behalf of all attending police officers for the support when Slovenian police officers were carrying out their tasks in international missions, and then each police officer described their impressions and experience gained in an individual mission.

The police officers will now take part in a programme for reintegration into the working and living environment at a seminar. Together with the programme managers at the General Police Administration, the seminar will assess their work in international peacekeeping missions, exchange positive and negative experience, and try to eliminate the possible consequences of stress and other problems that occurred during their tour. Also on the agenda are cultural and sport activities.
