This year the police again presented their prevention and promotion activities at the educational trade fair Children's Bazaar organized at the Ljubljana Exhibition and Convention Centre. Children's Bazaar will be open until Sunday, 13 September 2009.
At this event intended for children and youth the police every year present different areas of their work, thus trying to contribute to preventive operation of police forces. This year we would like to particularly stress the area of road traffic safety.
A vehicle with a Provida video surveillance system
At the police exhibition area you can see official equipment and some police vehicles (a police motorcycle, a van used for examining crime scenes, a vehicle with a Provida video surveillance system) exhibited in the hall and on the platform of the Ljubljana Exhibition and Convention Centre. Throughout the trade fair police officers will also provide advice about safety and answer your questions about police work.
A lot of interest was aroused by the demonstration of a helicopter rescue action focused on a police officer hurt in an accident.
Today at 11 a.m., despite rain, the platform of the Ljubljana Exhibition and Convention Centre was crowded with little and grown-up spectators. They followed with interest the demonstration of police officers from the Mountain Unit who were "rescuing a hurt policeman" on the roof of the exhibition hall.
We also present service animals as well as the activities of police dog handlers and horsemen. As usual, the youngest visitors will be enraptured with the "police doggy" Arni performing various tricks just for them.
Aside from that you can also admire different police uniforms - a uniform of a police officer from the Special Unit, a uniform of a police officer on a peace mission as well as a uniform that was in the period of the Austro-Hungarian Empire worn by gendarmes, the then "keepers" of public order and peace.
You can also meet top Slovenian athletes employed with the police.
Visitors are invited to test their safe driving skills on a motorcycle simulator.
The youngest can participate in a prize-winning raffle by answering two "difficult" questions about road traffic safety. Namely, in October we will draw lots at the General Police Directorate and several tens of children who answered correctly will be awarded a prize - police promotion materials.
Children and youth, come and visit us!
Parents, preschool teachers and teachers or representatives of preschool institutions, primary schools and media,
are also cordially invited to visit the exhibition area of the police!
