The reception with the President of the Republic of Slovenia and the Commander in Chief, Dr  Danilo Türk, organised today, 30 May 2011, upon the occasion of the international day for members of the United Nations peacekeeping missions as well as all missions taking place with the consent of the United Nations, was attended by the Director General of the Police, Janko Goršek, and the Minister of the Interior, Katarina Kresal, both with their closest co-workers and, of course police peacekeepers.

The first police officer was seconded to the MAPE mission in Albania in 1997. Since then the Slovenian Police actively contributes to common efforts of the European Union in designing the European Security and Defence Policy (ESDP) and in the international civilian mission under the protection of the UN, EU and OSCE. Slovenian police officers have taken part in 14 (fourteen) missions until now, and currently altogether 24 police officers are participating in four missions (that is, EULEX in Kosovo, EUPM in Bosnia and Herzegovina, OSCE in Serbia and EUMM in Georgia).
