Today, 21 July 2022, Acting Director General of the Police Boštjan Lindav and his Assistant Jože Senica received the Italian Police Attaché Giulio Meddi and the Deputy Italian Ambassador to Slovenia, Ivo Michele Polacco.

The courtesy visit was aimed at exchanging views on the cooperation between the police forces of both countries, which is considered excellent. Joint efforts expended by the Slovenian and Italian police to ensure security during this year’s Giro d'Italia, which was partly ran in Slovenia, are a superb example of best practice for cross-border police cooperation.

Discussions also included effective border surveillance measures and proactive approaches to investigating crime. Both police forces assured each other of mutual support and assistance in fighting wildfires currently raging the border area of the Goriška Karst region.
