Today saw the 11th generation of police officers taking the oath of honour in the presence of the Director General of the Police, Janko Goršek.

Today, 36 female and 94 male police recruits will join the force to shoulder responsibilities in the line of duty.

The 130 new officers were addressed by the Director General of the Police, Goršek, who placed particular importance on the qualities necessary to be a good police officer and stressed that the core mission of policing is to serve and protect. "You are undertaking a difficult task, closely related to high ethical standards. Legality, professionalism, justice, attitude and humanity are the qualities of a good and respectable officer who can serve as a positive role model."

In his speech delivered to the new generation of officers, who will now start discharging their duties at police stations across Slovenia, the Headmaster of the Police Officers School, Marko Podlesnik, thanked everyone involved in the training process and praised the young recruits' strong performances. "You have demonstrated your professional and practical skills, you have shown your enthusiasm and commitment, and you have performed and acted responsibly in the working environment."

Every year the generation's best recruit is selected. This year's best, who was presented with a book, was Ernest Bricman who thanked everyone involved in the training. He wished his fellow officers the best of luck in the line of duty, pausing to add, "We have decided to take the road less travelled, and I am convinced that the time we have spent together will always be remembered as some of the best days of our lives."
