Last Sunday, the 12th European Short Course Swimming Championship took place in Rijeka, Croatia, where Slovenian swimmers - top athletes employed in the police force - were extremely successful.
For the ninth time, Peter Mankoč won the European championship in 100 m medley. He also won the championships in Antwerp, Riesa, Dublin, Lisbon, Vienna, Trieste, Helsinki, and Debrecen.
He hopes to win his tenth gold medal in the event in Istanbul next year.
Matjaž Markič beat the competition in the 50 m breast stroke. He also added the medal for the 100 m breast stroke to his collection.
Emil Tahirovič finished third in the 50 m breast stroke.
Other Slovenian swimmers were also very successful.
