The Police Orchestra played its traditional Christmas and New Year concert in Gallus Hall at Cankarjev dom on 22 December 2009.
The speaker of honour on the night, Minister of the Interior Katarina Kresal, thanked all employees of the Ministry of the Interior and the Police for their outstanding professional work in the past year. The concert was attended by Minister Kresal and Director Goršak, accompanied by their associates and numerous invited guests.

The Police Orchestra has a 60-year history; it performed under its conductor, Milivoj Šurbek and gave yet another successful concert. Police officer Matjaž Mrak, a professional musician and member of the Police Orchestra, as well as the pop/folk group, Štajerskih 7, sang a number of songs with the orchestra, while Janez Lotrič appeared as guest singer. Together they sang Silent night, holy night by Gruber and Birth of Jesus by Scaltritti, which was followed by a recital by the actor, Polde Bibič.

A percussion trio from the Academy of Music, Petra Vidmar, Katarina Kukovič and Lovro Ašič, opened the concert, and nine male and three female ballet dancers from the Music and Ballet Conservatory provided a memorable performance. The choreography for Ponchielli's Dance of the Hours from La Gioconda was arranged for this occasion by Professor Matej Selan of the Conservatory.
