On 22 and 23 November 2012, Director General of the Slovenian police Stanislav Veniger attended regional police chiefs meeting in Opatija, Croatia, to discuss cooperation between the countries.
According to their assessment, operational cooperation between the police forces has been excellent. The meeting mainly focused on common tasks, problems and solutions in criminal police, underlining the significance of efficient international police cooperation in preventing, detecting and investigating general crime, organised crime, trafficking in human beings and extreme violence. During the discussions, cooperation between border police forces and activities in the framework of the Frontex Agency were also touched upon, while suggestions were made on ways to strengthen cooperation with the countries in the region. Beside the Slovenian Director General of the Police, the meeting was attended by police chiefs of Croatia, Bosnia and Herzegovina and Montenegro.
