The Slovenian police are sending a fourth group of seven police officers and one female officer to Macedonia from 30 March to 29 April 2016 to carry out joint controls of crossing the state border on its territory, as part of the joint operation in the management of the increased migration flow.
The following officers are leaving for Macedonia: Dejan Kranjec from Lendava Police Station (Murska Sobota Police Directorate), Anton Cafuta from State Border and Foreigners Section of the Uniformed Police Division of the Maribor Police Directorate, Aleš Kokalj from Ormož Police Station (Maribor Police Directorate), Boštjan Žula from Žalec Police Station (Celje Police Directorate), Stanislav Tekavčič from Novo mesto Police Station (Novo mesto Police Directorate), Albert Lah from Metlika Border Police Station (Novo mesto Police Directorate), Bojan Šumah from the Specialised Unit for State Border Control of the Uniformed Police Directorate of the General Police and Katja Kocijančič from Specialised Unit for State Border Control of the Unformed Police Directorate of the General Police Directorate.
The reception with the Director General of the Police Marjan Fank and the working meeting were also attended by Vladimir Pocek, Head of International Police Operations Division within the Service of Director General of the Police at the General Police Directorate, and Roman Čoh from the International Police Operations Division within the Service of Director General at the Police at the General Police Directorate.
Police officers will perform their tasks in the area of the Police Station for Border Control and Border Surveillance Bogorodica and on the green border outside the Bogorodica crossing point. If necessary, they will also help Macedonian police officers at the Temporary Transition Centre Gevgelija, where migrants are registered. The Slovenian police officers will perform their tasks in their working police uniforms and use service vehicles.
The tasks, rights and duties of the Slovenian police officers are detailed in the Protocol between the Ministry of the Interior of the Republic of Slovenia, Police, and the Ministry of the Interior of the Republic of Macedonia, Public Security Bureau, on joint patrols on the territory of the Republic of Macedonia in the framework of joint operation.
A day before departure - same as their predecessors - they had a working meeting, also with colleagues who had been deployed to Macedonia before them. They were also received by Director General of the Police Marjan Fank. He summarised the arrangements and positions of both the Slovenian Police and the Ministry of the Interior regarding the migration flows. He had no doubt that the police officers would excel in their work as they were all very experienced and knowledgeable in this area of work, while some of them were being deployed a second time. Among other, Mr Fank wished the officers, who would no doubt face some difficult tasks, a safe journey and a safe return home.
The third group of Slovenian police officers deployed to Macedonia returned some days ago.
