Slovenians enjoying their summer holidays in Croatia may once again encounter Slovenian police officers who are currently deployed in Pula, Novalja and Vodice, and on the island of Krk. As in previous years, Slovenian officers are supporting their Croatian colleagues in helping to keep visitors safe while also assisting tourists from Slovenia. Their presence is particularly important given that Croatia recorded almost 1.7 million visits by Slovenian citizens in 2025.
From 1 July to 14 August 2026, Slovenian police officers Andreja Vuk, Drago Butara, Marjan Premzl and Goran MihelÄŤiÄŤ will be deployed to the police administrations of Istria, Primorje-Gorski Kotar, Lika-Senj and Ĺ ibenik-Knin respectively.
Their presence on the ground will help improve communication, enable potential issues to be resolved more quickly and enhance tourists' sense of safety.
Before leaving for Croatia, the police officers were received last week by the Acting Director-General of the Police Danijel Lorbek.
The Slovenian police have been participating in the Safe Tourist Destination project since 2011. Over the years, this form of international cooperation has proved highly effective in helping to provide a safe and welcoming environment for tourists.
During their deployment, Slovenian police officers primarily support their Croatian colleagues in maintaining public order, traffic enforcement and dealing with criminal offences. They also assist with communication and police procedures involving Slovenian citizens and raise awareness among Slovenian holidaymakers about simple preventive measures they can take to protect their personal belongings while on holiday.
