GorazdPezdir1

Gorazd Pezdir was born in 1969 in Ljubljana. He has been employed with the police force since 1994. After completing the Gimnazija Be┼żigrad high school, he studied at the Faculty of Mathematics and Physics, focusing primarily on physics in natural sciences. He graduated in 1994 and was awarded a bachelorÔÇÖs degree in physics.

Gorazd Pezdir's first employment was at the Physical Examination Section of the Crime Scene Examination Centre, now the National Forensic Laboratory. He worked as a forensic expert in examining gun shot residue, reconstruction of shooting, fire and explosion examination, examination of glass, and examination of tyres and light bulbs.

In 2013 he became Head of the Physical Examination Section of the National Forensic Laboratory. He was promoted to Assistant Director of the National Forensic Laboratory in 2016. Throughout his career, he has been engaged in various working groups of the European Network of the Forensic Science Institutes (ENFSI), and has undergone specialized training abroad. He is a court-appointed expert in the fields of forensic and crime scene examination registered with the Ministry of Justice.

He was appointed Director of the National Forensic Laboratory at the General Police Directorate on 15 April 2019.
