52 Hungarian police officers, who are to provide assistance to their Slovenian counterparts, were received today, 9 November 2015 at 12.30, at Dolga vas border crossing. Upon arrival, they were welcomed by the Murska Sobota Police Directorate Director, Damir Ivančić, and Ambassador of the Republic of Hungary, Edit Szilágyiné Bátorfi.

The Murska Sobota Police Directorate Director bid welcome to the Hungarian police officers and expressed his satisfaction upon their arrival. He wished them a pleasant stay and successful performance of their tasks.

32 police officers will be deployed in the area of Murska Sobota Police Directorate and 20 to the area of Maribor Police Directorate. The Hungarian police officers will exercise the same police powers as their Slovenian counterparts. They will exercise all powers in the presence of Slovenian police officers. The purpose of joint patrols is to assist the Slovenian Police in the management of the increased migration flow by maintaining public order and peace, by preventing criminal and minor offences and by jointly patrolling the Schengen border.

The work of the Hungarian police officers will be coordinated by their officer in charge and the logistics officer. The coordinator at the Murska Sobota Police Directorate will be Manfred Kepe, Assistant Commander at Lendava Police Station.
