Having completed the Tacen police cadet school in 1982, Danimir Rebec, born on 1963, worked as a police officer at the Ljubljana Center Police Station and later at the Se┼żana Police Station, where he was a community policing officer. From 1989 to 1994 he was deputy commander of the Ferneti─Źi Border Police Station and acting commander of the Koper Traffic Police Station for a year.

Having completed his studies at the Faculty of Law in 1997, he went to work at the Border and Foreigners Section of the Koper Police Directorate, where he was a police inspector and later head of the section. In 2008 he assumed the leadership of the Uniformed Police Division of the Postojna Police Directorate. When the Postojna and Koper Police Directorates merged in 2011, he became the head of the Uniformed Police Division of the Koper Police Directorate.

As a member of the Special Police Unit in the Koper area he participated in the independence war in 1991. He received a silver badge for his contribution to security.

On 1 February 2013 he was appointed Director of the Koper Police Directorate.
