From 21 to 23 May 2026, Nova Gorica hosted the 10th Bogataj’s Protection and Rescue Days, an event showcasing the services responsible for public safety. More than 15,000 people attended the presentation of the system for protection against natural and other disasters.
Police officers presented their work alongside the civil protection service, the army, firefighters, rescue workers and other emergency services.

A large crowd of visitors watched our presentation in the centre of Nova Gorica. In the morning, groups of children flocked to the police exhibition area, asking police officers thousands of curious questions.

The little ones were thrilled to watch police officers create a composite sketch, take fingerprints and arrest criminals. Police horses drew a large crowd and everyone wanted to pet them.

And even though children are unfamiliar with the legendary “Fičko”– Zastava 750 used by the police in the Yugoslav days – they were fascinated by it and waited in line to get behind the wheel. Meanwhile, our mascot, Officer Leon, kept them entertained.

An attractive demonstration of jiu-jitsu and self-defence techniques took place on the mats. A police motorcyclist gave a demonstration of riding skills, a police helicopter flew over the venue and the Police Orchestra created a cheerful atmosphere.
